Pacific Poker Review

Overview
Established in 2002 in Gibralter, Pacific Poker is operated by the Casino-on-Net Group, or 888.com, one of the world's largest online gambling operators. This creates a strong  influx of casino players, which helps to make the games quite loose at Pacific Poker. Pacific poker is the 4th largest poker room right now and site is also known as 888 poker. The competition is easier at Pacific Poker than at most sites and can be a profitable room to play. But they also have one of the worst rake structures of any online poker room.

Ease of Competition
The competition on Pacific Poker is easy. A minimal number of strong players have chosen this site as their preferred poker room. The No-Limit and Pot-Limit cash games are recommended as flop percentages are often in the high 50s.

Pacific Poker is a Euro Poker Site
This site does not accept US Players. Why should you choose a Euro site?
Many of the poker sites who appear to be Euro friendly will force their players to deposit in USD or exchange their funds for USD. The problem with this is that the exchange rates fluctuate day to day and they will pay you a lower premium to have your Euros converted to Dollars or Pounds. Likewise, when it comes time to cash out you could lose based on that days rate. This is why Euro poker sites are the preferred poker site for European players. Because if you are going to deposit to a poker site in Euros, Inter Poker will not only allow you to deposit in Euros, but play in Euros.

Bonuses and Promotions
Pacific Poker has a solid new player signup bonus. A unique bonus is available to you if you click a link to Pacific from our site. 100% up to $400, and it is fairly easy to clear. $25 of the bonus is an instant bonus, so you can play with the chips immediately after depositing. They also give you bonus dollars for your play. For every $10 you wager, you earn one point. For every 100 points, you earn a free dollar.

Exclusive to AllOnlinePokerSites.com players, you can expect to get re-load bonuses on a regular basis. While some freerolls are regularly provided on the site, additional freerolls will be awarded to AllOnlinePokerSites.com players.

The site has a strong promotional program including plenty of guaranteed money tournaments. It also has High Hand, Royal Flush and Bad Beat Jackpots. To win the entire big money high hand jackpot, one would need to make a spade Royal Flush. The bad beat jackpot is won by losing with four-of-a-kind 8s or better. The standard high hand jackpot pays out prizes to four-of-a-kind and straight flushes. For all jackpot promotions, winning hands must be made using both hole cards.

All tournaments draw well, especially the $15k guarantee, 5,000 starting chips, $30+$3 Deep Stack on Fridays. They also draw a lot of traffic to many qualifiers to big live and online poker events like the World Series of Poker, European Poker Tour, Aussie Millions and Irish Open. Pacific poker is also a big advocate of give-aways just for being at one of their chosen tables, I-Pods, I-Pads, Laptops, money, you name it- and they give it away during revolving promotional programs.

888 Poker also represents Ceasars Casino Poker and WSOP.com. As you can expect, WSOP.com is primarily focused on satellites and qualifiers for their tournaments.

Pacific Poker sports a nice refer-a-friend program that awards players a $50 bonus for each referred friend, while the referred player receives $25.

Software Package
The software has recently been significantly improved, but when compared to other rooms, it is continues to be too slow. This is the primary reason the site continues to NOT draw the more active- and better- players. The software also has more frequent disconnects than the industry average. But we do love the 3-D avatars, and the instant access to bingo and casino games is a plus. Their software is available in both Java and downloadable form for Mac and Linux users. They also have their software translated into German, Swedish, and Italian.

Multi-table: 16 (8 cash, 8 tournament)

Rake/Cashouts/Customer Service
Pacific Poker has a very poor rake structure. The room charges a higher rake than most online poker rooms. Instead of a standard 5% up to $3 rake, the maximum rake is $4 in all no-limit and pot-limit games, and in limit games of $3-$6 to $30-$60. Also, while most other poker rooms cap the rake at $2 for short handed games, Pacific caps the rake at $2.50.

Our Recommendation
If you are a new player, the slowness of the software will not disturb you that much. You are likely to do well immediately if you play a tight game. Lots of fish here.
