Steve Dannenmann

Steve Dannenmann is a certified public accountant and Mortgage Banker from Maryland. He appeared rather abruptly on the poker scene in 2005, coming in second to Joe Hachem in the World Series of Poker main event. Having split the $10,000 buy-in with a friend, he then split his prize of $4.25 million. The 2005 Main event was the first WSOP event he had ever competed in.

The WSOP 2005 final hand occurred between Hachem, who had $40 million, and Steve Dannenmann, who had $16.35 million. The blinds were $150.000 – $300.000 and the ante $50.000. Hachem was dealt pocket cards of 7-3 to Dannenman’s A-3. Danneman confidently raised his pre-flop bet to $700.000, Hachem called. After the flop of 4-5-6 Hachem had his straight, and checked. Danneman, confident with his hand bet another $700.000 and Hachem raised to $1.700.000. Dannenmann called. When the turn came with Ace, Hachem bet 2.000.000. Dannenmann, with high pair raised to $5.000.000 and Hachem went all-in. Dannenmann called without hesitation. The river came with a 4 giving Hachem the Championship.
