Sailor Roberts
Brian "Sailor" Roberts got the nickname "Sailor" for having served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Before he became a professional poker player, along with poker legends Doyle Brunson and Amarillo Slim, he was a “rounder” that traveled the country looking for games. In addition to being a world class poker player, he was also a champion bridge player.
Roberts won his first bracelet at the 1974 World Series of Poker in the $5,000 Deuce to Seven Draw event. But his finest poker moment came at the 1975 World Series of Poker (WSOP) when he won the main event, his second WSOP bracelet and $210,000. |
