Phil Hellmuth Jr.
Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Phil Hellmuth Jr. first made a name for himself by becoming the youngest player ever to win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in 1989, at age 24. Hellmuth already has eleven WSOP bracelets, tied with Doyle Brunson and and one ahead of Johnny Chan. Helmuth also has five top-ten finishes in World Poker Tour events. Helmuths “bad boy” reputation for poker room tantrums has made him a favorite of television cameramen and one of the most recognizable personalities in poker.
While tabbed “Poker Brat,” Hellmuth commands respect at any table and he is a fierce competitor. In 1996 he was voted “Best All-Around Tournament Poker Player in the World” by his peers. While known for his boasts, few would argue that he is one of the most purely talented players currently in the game. Hellmuth has capitalized on his success by writing two instructional poker books, "Phil Hellmuth's Texas Hold'em" and "Play Poker Like the Pros."
During the bad times I become focused, clear-minded, disciplined and hungry. It is all about using the pain at the bottom to improve, and propel yourself back to the top. --Phil Helmuth
