Noel Furlong
J.J. "Noel" Furlong was born and lives in Dublin, Ireland. In 1999, he won $1,000,000 by winning the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) main event. In the final hand, he had pocket 5’s to Alan Goehring’s pocket 6’s, and the flop came Q-Q-5 giving him a full house. After the turn was a 2, Noel went all in and Goehring called. The blanc 8 on the river gave Furlong the championship. He originally became a millionaire from his carpet manufacturing business and is a recreational player. Because of his involvement with his carpet business he does not play poker frequently, usually only the WSOP and high end European Tournaments. Furlong was the top money winning Irish player in the world at $1,110,000, until 2005, when he was overcome by Andrew Black. In 1984, Furlong made his first trip to the WSOP- He placed 6th in the main event.
