Mike Matusow
Mike “the mouth” Matusow has two World Series of Poker bracelets and is considered one of the better Omaha players in the world. However he’s gained his popularity not because of his gambling skills. His gambling career had a usual start as he worked as a dealer at a Vegas casino. Then he realized that he could earn much more being a professional player. In 1999 he won his first WSOP gold bracelet in a No-Limit Texas Hold’em event. In 2002 he won the first prize playing Omaha Hi-Lo Split.
He became a recognizable face to the American public when, in the 2004 WSOP, he went up against Greg Raymer, the eventual winner, in a big hand. Matusow had AK and Raymer had AQ, but the latter was lucky to catch the nuts on the river. Matusow hit the ceiling and began rudely shouting at his opponent, “I have the biggest balls in No-Limit Hold'em in the world.” Although Mike apologized for his behavior right after the incident, Raymer refused to shake hands with him and “The Mouth” was borne on the American public.
Mike Matusow currently represents Full Tilt Poker, online poker room.
