Greg Raymer
Greg “Fossilman” Raymer was born in North Dakota, the 40-yr old father took a liking to Poker while in college, playing small games with fraternity friends. Through law school, Raymer remained a casual player, playing low limits games and eventually competing online. Raymer paid $160 to enter a PokerStars online tournament which he won, securing his seat in the main event. Raymer skyrocketed to poker acclaim when he defeated 2,575 other players to take first place in the 2004 World Series of Poker main event, and $5,000,000 for his effort.
Other poker players will tell you that one of the greatest feats ever accomplished in poker was his following up the 2004 victory with a finish of 25th in the 2005 WSOP main event against a field of 5,619.
He is known to read opponents very well and uses mathematical calculation coupled with controlled aggression; much like Chris Ferguson. Greg Raymer is a commanding presence whenever he sits down at a table, and amateurs across the continent are wearing his trademark sunglasses.
