David Sklansky

David Sklansky was born in Teaneck, New Jersey. He attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania for a year before leaving to become a professional gambler. Sklansky has won three World Series of Poker bracelets. In 1982, he won $800 Mixed Doubles, and $1000 Draw Hi. In 1983, he won $1000 Limit Omaha Hi. But his best win might be his Poker By The Book invitational event on the World Poker Tour when he overcame a 10:1 chip disadvantage to win the title against Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Caro, TJ Cloutier and Mike Sexton.

Sklansky is generally considered one of the top authorities on gambling, especially poker, and he has authored or co-authored many books. Two of his best sellers are Hold’Em Poker and Tournament Poker For Advanced Players, and both books are available on our Poker Books page.
